| Bio: | Name: Cornelius "Neil" Dylandy (codename: Series: Gundam 00 Age: 24 Gender: Male Sexuality: Ambiguous (by which I mean I'll work it out as I go along : |b) Abilities: A highly skilled sniper, given the right equipment (Read: his Gundam), Lockon can snipe a target in orbit around the Earth from the planet's surface. Personality: Lockon is easily viewed as the most easy going of the Gundam 00 Gundam meisters, though that isn't really saying much. He tries not to let things get to him too much because he knows, for the most part, that things that happened in the past can't be changed by anything you can do in the future. So he tries to just roll with the punches. However, he is nowhere near perfect. Lockon has his own demons that he deals with. First and foremost, of course, is coming to terms with his hatred for terrorism in conjunction with his position as a Gundam meister -- a position which calls for armed interventions in military disputes, killing people when necessary, an action that many in the world have dubbed terrorism itself. Lockon hears this and he sympathizes with those people, but he fights on anyhow, believing that the Gundams are the only way for the world as it is to change for the better. Second, but still just as important is his position as the Celestial Being Gundam team leader. While he's not the tactician of the organization, he is ultimately responsible for making the snap decisions based on circumstances on the battlefield. So if something goes wrong as a direct result of those decisions, it is, ultimately, his fault. And Lockon takes full responsibility for his own actions, but he also refuses to place blame or see blame placed on anyone who doesn't deserve it. He's something of an older brother type in that and many other respects. He always tries to see the good in the people he cares about and makes sure that they know exactly what he sees in them, especially when they're at their lowest. The people he comes to care about become something of a family to him and he will always fight for them, even when he thinks they've screwed up. Of course he will discipline them, and sometimes his form of discipline can be considered rather harsh, but usually it's because it was necessary. This isn’t to say that he doesn’t have his own faults, including a dangerous temper. Generally it takes a serious act of betrayal (usually against someone in his “family”) to set it off, but when it is Lockon can easily fly into a rage. And since he is a trained soldier and extremely gifted sniper, that generally means bad things for the person on the other end. Background: "Lockon Stratos" was born Cornelius Dylandy, one half of a set of identical twins. His brother, Lyle, was a minute and a half older. Growing up in Ireland, the boys, their parents, and their younger sister, Amy, had to deal with the reality of terrorism throughout their lives, but the final devastating blow came after Ireland declared that it would join in the world's goal to replace oil energy with solar energy. When construction began on the equipment they would need, a man from fellow Gundam meister, Setsuna F. Seiei's past ordered an attack on Ireland for daring to try and become independent from the Middle East's oil. While Neil and his brother were out, a suicide bomber attacked the apartment complex where the Dylandys and many other families resided. Neil was the first to arrive at the wreckage after rescue workers had dug most of the victims' bodies from the collapsed buildings. Both of their parents and their little sister died that day. It was also that day that truly drove home the point that terrorists and war were evil and on that day, Neil Dylandy swore to the spirits of his dead family that he would avenge them by changing the world and eradicating violence from it. And it was because of that that he was chosen to join Celestial Being. At sixteen years old, Neil had already been fighting the terrorists in his home country the best he could, already rather prolific in wielding a gun, he was recruited to pilot the GN-002, codename: Gundam Dynames and given his own codename: Lockon Stratos. He trained for nearly a decade with Celestial Being, becoming an even better sharpshooter and a top pilot; though he never quite matched the other three eventual Gundam meisters in flying skill, part of that is due to his reliance on the little robot, Haro, who flew, shielded, and ultimately controlled the Dynames while Lockon used the GN Sniper Rifle to pick off enemy targets, which took his full concentration. As new recruits came in, whether they were intended to work behind the scenes in the Ptolemaios (Celestial Being's center of operations space ship) or they were to pilot the three other Gundam suits, Lockon always made it a point to welcome them and make them feel as at ease as one could being recruited to an underground resistance group intended to wipe war off the map. It isn't until 2307 AD, when Lockon Stratos is 24 years old, that Celestial Being makes its first move to change the world, sending shockwaves across the planet when the Gundam Exia interrupts a demonstration for a new mobile suit design. Soon after, the other three pilots are quick to join the revolution, staging armed interventions whenever a military strike is called for. As team leader, Lockon leads the other pilots into battle, making sure that they only kill when absolutely necessary and things are fairly easy going until the arrival of three new Gundams whose pilots ambiguously claim to be additional members of Celestial Being. These new pilots sully the original Gundams' reputations by attacking military bases unprovoked and even going so far as to attack and slaughter innocent civilians. Eventually, the technology used to power the Gundams is leaked to the UN and a team is sent out with new modified mobile suits with these new "fake solar furnaces" is sent out to attack Celestial Being. During this dogfight, Tieria Erde's Gundam Virtue is incapacitated and Lockon, in order to save his teammate, throws himself in front of one of the attacking mobile suits, sustaining severe damage to both the Dynames and his right eye, the eye he uses to target. Afterwards, he assures Tieria that what happened isn't his fault and soothes his worries that he's unfit to be a Gundam meister. When the next attack comes from the UN once again, Lockon is ordered to stay behind since neither he nor his Gundam are in any condition to fly or fight. However, when he learns that one Ali Al-Saachez, the man who ordered the suicide bombings in Ireland that killed his parents and sister, is out there in a stolen Gundam (one of the new three), he's determined to fight and avenge his family. He rushes to the Dynames' docking bay . . . only to find that Tieria has locked him out of it in order to protect him. It's at this point that Lockon hears the voices. Offering him a wish in exchange for taking him away from that place. Things are hectic enough that he pays the voices no mind, but in his frustration between the situation and those damned voices hounding him, he finally shouts that he just wishes he could get to his damn Gundam!
